Live from CeBIT: Hands on on with Parrot's Bluetooth Sound System
Parrot just announced their new Blueooth Sound System which expands
their once car-centric line-up of Bluetooth products to now include the living room. Each of these 2 x 60 watt Bluetooth
2.0 speakers feature EDR (for up to 3Mbps of throughput) and support for both the A2DP and AVRCP profiles. That means
you can stream 16-bit audio from say, your new Samsung-i310
musicphone, straight to these speakers... when you're within 10 meters that is. The speakers also sport an RCA
connector around back just in case you want to pump audio from, let's say, more traditional sources. Parrot admits that
this is an unproven market but that's not going to stop 'em from rolling these out Q3 for about $425 a set. We think
they might be just a little nuts, but hey, that's why we likes 'em. Hell, after a $300 boombox, anything is possible right? More pics after the break
including a shot of their new Bluetooth picture frames also announced today.

I like the simple design of the speakers...not bad.
What cell phone is in that first picture? Is it the Nokia 6020?
Really not bad, but somehow I can't find it on http://www.parrot.biz Where is it?
#2 - its the Nokia 8800/8801 in the first pic, rather expensive phone but very very nice
Can anyone recommend good budget/mid-range MP3 phones that support the A2DP or AVRCP profiles?
Interesting to see how the big established companies, such as Kenwood and Sony, are doing their best NOT to integrate devices, safeguarding their sales of separate electronics components.
But in case I've got 100 Gb of audio (and video?) stored on my smart phone... why should I buy an audio player, amplifier, DVD player, organizer?
New companies are picking up new customers. Good!
And with the arrival of the UMPC, one can plug the UMPC into it's cradle and use the device as Media Center, via the bluetooth speakers and LCD TV - via cable, and as a desktop PC, via bluetooth keyboard/mouse and TFT - via cable, simultaneously.
Goes without saying that one could the same thing with a laptop, however, these things are relatively big. They do have screen and mouse integrated, though.
In future, I guess we'll have one iPod sized device with 10 Tb of storage that connects through bluetooth/WiFi to our internet connection, LCD TV, speakers, remote, TFT panel, keyboard and mouse.
Maybe the device would need storage at all in case there's enough bandwidth available to retrieve content... depends.
Last sentence: "Maybe the device would need >NO< storage at all in case there's enough bandwidth available to retrieve content... depends."
Sorry :-|
i, like the speakers to!
I, like to here them some time.
The only thing i don,t like is the bas reflex port, on the front side.

Anyone know where these are manufactured?
I love this idea for Bluetooth - turns your mobile phone into a remote control, but with the content stored inside it.
I also love the Google Ads that appear for the keywords "parrot": Bird Diaper Flight Suit anyone?!
